The South Suburban Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse is looking to hire a skilled Accounts Receivable Associate who has an extensive background in the Healthcare industry. Associate Degree Required or equivalent academic credit hours “Bachelor Preferred” with two or more years’ experience with a computerized accounts receivable system with an emphasis on billing and client collection. Must have knowledge of the computer software that is required to perform assigned job duties such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word. Must have prior experience in billing of medical insurance claims using UB and HCFA forms or electronic filing. Must have valid driver’s license.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Good short-term memory, good hearing, and visual acuity sufficient to accomplish job responsibilities. Ability to work with computer for several hours at a time. Good hand dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to perform light physical work, exerting up to ten (10) pounds of force on an occasional basis. Sitting, standing, walking short distance are activities that the Accounts Receivable Associate must perform.


Under the supervision of the Revenue Cycle Manager, he/she performs assigned accounting functions necessary to maintain patient Accounts Receivable on a current and accurate basis, including, but not limited to patient billing, payment posting, collection referrals, accounts receivable analysis, data entry, filing, and billing of medical insurance claims using UB and HCFA forms or electronic filing. These functions are essential to assist the Financial Services Department in achieving Council goals and objectives and to assure efficient and effective Council operations. This position will also work part-time in Central Intake and assist the Financial Specialist with Intake Bill Processing, data entry and filing.
