Position Available: Senior Assessment Counselor
HOURS: 11:00am – 7:00pm shift, Mon – Fri.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree (Masters preferred) in Behavioral Health or related field and CADC or LPC preferred.  Or become certified within two years.  Must have a thorough knowledge of the disease model of Substance Use Disorders (SUD’s) and its application to patient care required. Must have ability to screen and assess patient’s SUD appropriately and in a timely manner.  Good working knowledge of the ASAM criteria a must.  Experience with Electronic Clinical Records a plus. Ability to communicate well with people.  Must have valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and minimal auto insurance.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Good organizational skills, ability to use logical thinking to solve problems. Good verbal and communications and writing skills. Ability to provide and follow effective written and verbal instructions and good short-term memory.  Ability to perform C.P.R.  Ability to perform light physical work exerting up to ten (10) pounds of force on an occasional basis.  Sitting, standing, walking short distances are activities that the Senior Addiction Counselor I must perform.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors or Masters Degree in Behavioral Health or related field. Must have Illinois Certification in substance abuse or become certified within two years of working in the chemical dependency field; plus one or more years experience in behavioral health or chemical dependency preferred.  Must have a thorough knowledge of the disease of alcoholism/addiction and its application to patient care.  Must have valid drivers license and minimal auto insurance.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Good organizational skills, ability to use logical thinking to solve problems.  Good short-term memory, good verbal communication skills, ability to provide and follow effective written and verbal instructions.  Ability to effectively monitor and develop subordinates when applicable.  Ability to successfully complete training and perform C.P.R.  Ability to perform light physical work exerting up to ten pounds of force on an occasional basis.  Sitting, standing and walking short distances are activities that the Residential Addiction Counselor must perform.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree in Counseling, Addictions, Social Work or related field.  Must have CADC or LPC (LCPC/LCSW preferred).  A minimum of three years’ experience in chemical dependency and mental health. Two years supervisory experience required; must be able to effectively and competently supervise clinical staff and overall treatment of patients; must have medical experience and knowledge to recognize the signs and symptoms of serious or potentially threatening illnesses or behaviors.  Must have experience with evidence based strategies such as cognitive behavioral therapy, contingency management, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed therapy, etc. Experience with electronic health records a plus.  A valid driver’s license and minimal auto insurance required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field, plus one year of supervised work experience in the field of Addictions and Mental Health preferred. Must have CADC, LPC (LCPC/LCSW preferred) and a thorough knowledge of Substance Abuse and co-occurring disorders and its application to patient care is required.  Ability to complete a quick and accurate differential assessment of mental health and substance abuse conditions required.  Must have experience with evidence based modalities for treating co-occurring illness. Experience with Electronic Health Records a plus.  Must have valid driver’s license and minimal auto insurance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A qualified candidate must have a Master’s degree in Counseling, Addictions, Social Work or related field. Plus LCPC or LCSW is required.  Two years of supervisory work experience in Behavioral Health, preferably in a residential facility.  Working knowledge of the ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) Criteria and LOCUS (Level of Care Utilization System for Psychiatric and Addiction Services) required.  Must have medical experience and knowledge to recognize the signs and symptoms of serious or potentially threatening illnesses or behaviors.  Experience with evidence based clinical practices required.  Ability to effectively supervise and direct clinical staff of a 48 bed/patient unit.  Ability to work with IT Director in developing clinical forms for the EHR (electronic health record).  A valid driver’s license and minimal auto insurance required.  Must pass background clearance check.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Health or related field* preferred.  Familiar with evidenced based treatment modalities and age specific and cultural competencies, a plus. Demonstrates some understanding of substance use disorders, 12 step philosophy, co-occurring disorders and mental health problems

Description

Under the supervision of the Program Director, or designee, performs assigned non – clinical patient care responsibilities necessary to provide quality treatment, such as monitoring the activities of the patients to ensure safety, well being, patient care, support and structure.  Gathering the patients for all scheduled treatment activities, maintains a safe and secure treatment environment by monitoring the hallways, escorts and monitor patients at meals, outside activities, and in the general milieu.  Provides safe patient transportation which may include scheduled outside activities.  Assists staff with Family Visiting which includes checking in visitors, searching patient’s valuables and monitoring the visitors, etc.

Ability to successfully complete training and perform C.P.R.  Ability to perform light physical work exerting up to ten (10) pounds of force on an occasional basis.  Sitting, standing and walking short distances are activities that the Milieu Technician must perform.

VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF CLINICAL OFFICER

The South Suburban Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse provides both inpatient and outpatient services to individuals with Substance Use Disorders and to individuals with a combination of Substance Use Disorders and Mental Health disorders.   We are currently looking for a qualified individual who can work in conjunction with the President and CEO, and other department managers in developing new programming as well as continuing the high quality treatment services we currently provide.  We are located in East Hazel Crest, Illinois.

Reporting directly to the President and CEO, the Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer must have the following qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Service or Management related area; Certification and/or licensure a plus;
  • Familiar with SUPR 2060 standards, The Joint Commission Standards and Rule 132;
  • Five years of progressively more responsible experience in mental health and substance use disorder treatment or healthcare management;
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge related to healthcare network and systems development;
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge related to developing and implementing new mental health and substance use disorder related programs;
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge related to managed care systems and contracts;
  • Three years of experience in the supervision of staff;
  • Experience working with Electronic Clinical Records;
  • Demonstrated experience as a “team leader” in managing projects;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with a broad range of staff at various organizational levels;
  • Demonstrated ability to write proposals and other management related documents;
  • Demonstrated experience in building network relationships, including representations in various forums, workgroups, with external stakeholders, such as payers, community organizations, legislators, trade organizations and State of Illinois departments;
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex organization problems;
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
